Monday mullet photos
I saw the following three mullets on my trip to Rome in July. I'm not sure if the second third qualify for mullets, but they sure are interesting.

Monday mullet photos
I'm not exactly sure why it's been so long since I posted mullet photos. They were some of my most popular posts. Go figure. Anyway, the Monday mullet madness continues with some Madridian mullets. Enjoy!

Spanish Mullets
When do you know when a fashion trend has become part of the culture? When it shows up on manikins all over the city!
I submit to you evidence 1 and 1a, exemplifying how the mullet has infiltraded the Spanish culture. The rest of Europe has let go, but the Spanish still rock it proudly.

Spanish Fashion Tribes
Lets talk fashion. More specifically, lets talk about recent trends in popular Spanish fashion. Recently, I've been feeling as though I’m on an Austin Power movie set as I walk the streets of Barcelona. Like every country, Spain has multiple fashion tribes. The Spanish tribes include the heavies (goths), muscu-lucos (muscle marries), pijos (preps / yuppies) and fiesteros (fashionistas), among with many others that I’m probably unaware of.
The one that intrigues me the most deals with Spanish women and does not fit very well into any of the tribes described above. Perhaps a new tribe called “Chica Americano de 19060s” is necessary.
Members of this tribe would be required to have long hair with huge bangs that are cut straight across the forehead. Their clothes should be very bold with lots of stripes, polka dots and flowery patterns. The required accessories include hair bands, big boots, massive earrings, colorful belts of all shapes and sizes and finally, what I call "slipper shoes" due to there similarity to everyday slippers. Basically, they would need to look like an American female from the 1960s. See the photos below (click to see large) and more on my flickr page.
Then you have a certain subset of Spanish men (more Catalan) that feel it's not only ok, but cool to do the unthinkable and combine the mullet with dreads. The horrific end result is shown below. I’ve been thinking of a name and came up with two: Drellet or Mullad.

Mullets de Madrid
I know that I've been slacking on the mullet photos. To make it up, I'm posting 4 photos, all taken during my recent visit to the lovely city of Madrid. As you can see, they know how the rock the mullet...

Mullet Monday
Today marks the return of mullet Mondays. In truth, it never actually went away, I've simply haven't had the time to capture and post photos. Thankfully Christmas shopping has provided ample opportunity to capture these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat: the Barcelona metro. Enjoy!

Mullet Mondays - Late
Here it is...a bit late. You see, the problem is that my friend lives in the most affluent area of Barcelona. People that sport the mullet tend to stay away from Gucci, Armani, Prada, Valentino, D&G, etc. As a result, I've seen a lot less mullets on the street, making them more difficult to share with you. Perhaps I need to visit the Raval and Born districts more often...they're both mullet heaven.
Thankfully, I saw this beauty on my way to dinner a few nights back. Notice how he's grooming while waiting for the light to turn green. I know deep down inside you wish that was your hand and not his.

Mullet Mondays
Are the Catalan getting ready for the upcoming cool weather by growing their very own neck warmers? Whatever the reason, I've recently seen some really bad ass mullets. This is just one example of many more to come.

Mullet Mondays
This follicle phenomenon is straight out of the 80s', as is his t-shirt and sun glasses....not that there is anything wrong with that. I believe this mullet would fall into the "rock star" category. Party on, Wayne. Party on, Garth. Clearly, I'm not worthy. For those of you that have no clue what I'm talking about, there is always google. Happy Monday, friends! ;)

Mullet Monday
I saw this magnificent mullet on the metro on my way home from the beach (P.S it's 78 degrees today and was 75 yesterday...beach anyone?). She didn't catch me, but another person saw me take the photo and started to laugh. Enjoy!

Mullet Mondays
Today I bring you a very sexy mullet found directly on my street. Notice the care taken with the strategically placed blond highlights. The George Michael style earring is another nice touch. Wow, that chica is very lucky!

Mullet Monday
Most American's view the mullet with a combination of awe and disgust. Many Europeans view them as a beautiful extension of the body.... an extension that must be pampered, groomed and cared for like a child. Starting today, and every Monday going forward, I will celebrate the hideous European mullet by posting one photo of a mullet seen on the streets of Barcelona by yours truly. You'll see long mullets, shorts mullets, colored mullets and even mullets on children and babies.
Power to the mullet. Enjoy!
